Things You May Want to Know!

Here are some answers to the most often asked questions. After checking them out, please feel free to email us with any other thoughts or questions.

Dress Code

Women's Ballet: The Eleve Allison leotard in black is the uniform for all levels. Please wear Capezio transition tights that match the color of your shoes. Hair should ALWAYS be pulled back into a neat ballet bun for every class.  Black or white Bullet Pointe skirts are suggested for pointe, rep, and variations.

Saturdays are leotard and skirt of your choice day.

Jazz/Contemporary: Black leggings and black dance socks or black jazz shoes with a form fitting top.

Men’s Ballet: Black or white compression t-shirt with black tights and black shoes.

Tuition

Total annual tuition is based on the 2023-24 Season which begins in mid-August and ends in late May. Tuition may be broken into 10 installments payments which are paid monthly through auto pay on the DanceStudio Pro site. We require families to be set up on auto pay.

Tuition is billed to the card on file on the first of each month. Tuition does not include performance fees.

In the case that a student withdraws for any reason during the season, we request one installment (10% of total tuition) to be paid after their last class as a cancellation fee as we have held space in that class for the student.

Performances, Fees, and Tickets

UDI presents three major performances each season: full-length Nutcracker, Winter Gala, and a full-length ballet in the spring.

Performance fees are billed on the 15th of the month prior to the show month. Performance fees include: extra rehearsal classes at studio, dress rehearsals, and run throughs across multiple days at the theatre, costume rental, and photos.

Performance fees range from $75 to $125 a production based on level. Families are asked to "sell" (have friends, family attend) or purchase 20 tickets per event.

Competitions

As a studio we choose which competitions to support based on a myriad of factors. UDI's chosen competitions will be announced at the beginning of the season and will include a mix of local and out-of-state options. Students may attend other competitions but should not expect UDI faculty on site unless previously arranged.

Students are asked to meet with Cati Snarr to discuss any competition plans. Variations and coaches are chosen in conjuction with the student and UDI faculty. Choreographers should be discussed with UDI faculty before the choreographer begins work.

Coaching Fees and Studio Rental Fees

While students pay coaches directly for coaching/private fees, there is an administration fee (separate than registration fees paid to the competition) paid to the studio – This fee covers group run throughs, costume sourcing , support at the event, and administrative tasks including music upload. Tutu rentals if needed are not included, yet UDI has great relationships with many renters.

Administrative fee: $125 plus $50 per variation.

Studio Rental UDI Student: $15/hr

Studio Rental Non UDI Student: $25/hr
