JX Yu
Musical Theatre Faculty
Jin-Xiang Yu (JX) grew up in Japan, speaks Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, and English fluently, and is a transplant from NYC. She is the owner and instructor of voice, piano, acting, and audition techniques at Studio JX in Cottonwood Heights, and is dedicated to the artistic careers of her students, who she loves with all her heart. She finds fulfillment in being a performing educator, finding unique ways to balance a performing career and teaching. She freelances as a versatile performer, from being a film/TV/commercial actor, an operatic vocalist, to a musical theatre belter. She is passionate about a true commitment to character and authentic, honest storytelling. She danced ballet growing up and is ecstatic about teaching musical theatre with Cati and learning with everyone at UDI this year.
JX has a Musical Theatre degree with a dance focus (American Musical and Dramatic Academy), a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics (CUNY Queens College), a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance (CUNY Queens College/Aaron Copland School of Music), and a Master of Music in Opera (Yale University/Yale School of Music). She is a mother of 3 and loves spicy food and volleyball.
