ASHLEE VILOS
Jazz Faculty
Ashlee fell in love with dance at her mom's studio, Applause Dance Theatre. She has been dancing since preschool, but her relationship with dance has changed and transformed through the years. She has trained in all styles from commercial dance, ballet, tap, breakdancing, to competitive dance.
Since leaving the commercial scene in LA, she now focuses on contemporary choreography, freestyle, performing, and emotional progression through movement. She taught adult open classes regularly at Millennium Dance Complex SLC for 8 years and has guest taught all over Utah, Canada, Nevada, and California.
She was the creator and director of an all styles Dance Company, Transfusion Hype for 5 years before evolving it into Myriad Dance Company, a contemporary and modern based company currently under the direction of Kendall Fischer.
She has loved being able to share her dance as well as provide outlets and opportunities for fellow dance creatives. For the past 7 years she has produced a quarterly show bringing all dance styles together to celebrate Utah’s adult dance community, Creators Grid.
She currently works in the school system for Ballet West’s outreach program, I CAN DO, where she teaches 5th graders the fundamentals of dance, leading them into a year end performance. The focus is encouraging kids to not drop out of school and to build confidence through dance instruction.
Ashlee will continue to create works coming from the heart and can be expected to bring beautiful things to the dance community. She has loved joining the UDI Faculty and is looking forward to another season.
